Chennai to host fourth edition of Pharmac South on July 7-8

The fourth edition of the Pharmac South, south India’s pharmaceutical products and machinery expo, convention and awards event, will be held in Chennai on July 7 and 8 at Chennai Trade Centre. The Tamil Nadu chapter of the Indian Drugs Manufacturers Association (TN IDMA), in association with Orbit Exhibitors Mumbai, by mobilizing support from Pharmexcil and other stakeholders, will host the two-day event.

Credited as South India’s largest pharma expo, Pharmac South 2017 will showcase the latest trends and technologies in the production of pharmaceutical products, and other services and information related to all segments in the pharma sector. The objective of holding the event is to provide adequate support for growth of the pharmaceutical industry in the south, and to regain the lost glory of Chennai and Puducherry as contract manufacturing hubs, said the organizers.

According to J Jayaseelan, the chairman of TN IDMA, the  event will fuel the business growth of the small scale entrepreneurs in the south Indian pharma sector with emphasis on export potentials for the SME units, besides focusing on increase in their domestic production. The organizers expect a mobilization of more than 3,000 industry people including buyers and visitors.

The trade fair-cum-expo will provide a platform to showcase innovative products, manufacturing and processing machinery, laboratory equipment, analytical instruments and facilities for exchanging information on all services required for a manufacturing company. It is hoped that the event will connect the south Indian pharma industry with all stakeholders in the pharma sector across the country. Leading business leaders, top executives from different companies such as brand managers, marketing managers, production managers and logistic organizers are expected to visit the expo and interact with the exhibitors.

While speaking to Pharmabiz, Varsha Surve, project head at Orbit Exhibitors, said professionals from leading pharmaceutical companies from all over India, representatives and decision makers of different areas such as branding, marketing, logistics, etc, will visit the site to view and interact with the latest innovations and products, and exchange their experiences and developments with the industry players in south India.

As part of the exhibition, the organizers will hold a series of informative discussions and seminars on a wide range of topics by the best known names in the pharma industry. The major topics include, Outsourcing and Supply Chain Management in GST Era, Marketing and Branding for Start-up Companies and Significance of Trademark in Pharma, said Jayaseelan.

Adding details, he said in seminars and discussions focus will be given on market attention for the start-up and growing companies with encouragement from ‘Make in India’ project of the central government.
