CIEO calls an emergency meeting, takes up key issues of Organisers

The Council of Indian Exhibition Organisers (CIEO), called a crisis e-meeting on the first February 2021, as the latest SOP issued by Ministry of Commerce Government of India for Exhibitions was discovered to be more prohibitive than the past SOP, prompting rising frustration among the Organisers.

Over fifty domestic fair Organisers attended the said meeting where majority of them shared their doubts about the SOP and its effect on the impending Trade Shows.

The significant challenge in the SOP, Organisers said, is the five-meter aisle space, However, the majority of the upcoming exhibitions have sold their space keeping in view the standard aisle of three meters.

Rajan Sharma, Steering Committee Member from the CIEO told TFT “The emergency meeting was called and was an ‘Open Forum’ design where the Organisers transparently examined the need to change the SOP which, as indicated by CIEO is against the objective of opening up the Exhibition Sector. The committee will follow up with the Ministry of Commerce to roll out the improvements in the SOP’s, so that it helps to resume Exhibitions in India”.

Rajan further informed “The Council has written and followed up with ITPO, BIEC, NESCO Exhibition Center, IEML Noida and HITEX Hyderabad to offer fullest help to Exhibition Organizers in this time of torment”.

CIEO is aggressively taking up Organizer’s issues with Venues, Government and Service Providers now that the industry is attempting to defeat impact of the industry shutdown after COVID 19 broke out in March 2020.

The best deals and discounts from the venues for the Organisers and revision of latest SOP issued by the Ministry of Commerce for opening up the Exhibition Industry were discussed at large at the meeting.
