CIEO pitches for restarting exhibitions in Maharashtra, meets Industry Minister

Council of Indian Exhibition Organisers (CIEO), apex body of Exhibition Organisers in India is pushing hard for restarting Exhibitions in Maharashtra, the CIEO delegation comprising Steering Committee & members today met with Shri Subhash Desai, Hon’ble Minister of Industries, Mining & Marathi Language of Government of Maharashtra.


The delegation impressed upon the Hon’ble Minister to permit restarting exhibitions in Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra with the assurance that Government guidelines would be followed by the fraternity. The CIEO delegation comprised Rajesh Bhagat, Manish Gandhi, both of them Steering Committee Members, along with other members Anurag Dhoot, Ganzafar Ibrahim, Ganesh Parkar & Raj Singh & Bijoy Varghese of the CIEO Secretariat. In the long discussion held with the Minister – The delegation apprised him on the permissions granted by other states to organise Exhibitions including Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and New Delhi.

Hon’bl Minister was apprised by the Council that some of the major B2B Exhibitions may move out of Maharashtra causing the considerable loss of revenue and jobs if the Government does not permit or delays granting permission to hold B2B Exhibitions in the state.

The Hon’ble Minister was completely seized of the matter and of the view that suitable venues in Mumbai should be made available for holding B2B exhibitions as they are the backbone of the Industry and MSME’s. He immediately took up the matter with the Municipal Commissioner, Iqbal Chahal, IAS, to arrange for a meeting with CIEO delegation at the BMC headquarters to make a suitable presentation to restart the Exhibition in Mumbai.

He also assured to take the matter for the rest of the Maharashtra with his Cabinet Colleagues and responsible officers in the state Government.

Elated with the positive response – – CIEO delegation is taking up the next meeting with Municipal Commissioner along with suggested SOP’s to be followed by organisers for opening of these exhibitions by tomorrow.
