India's Pioneer Media on TradeFairs

Editorial June 2020

Dear Readers

TradeFairs represent the heartbeat of the economy – the Face to Face are the forums where FDI’s travel from one country to another – economies grows and jobs are created. Trade Fairs also serve as the barometer for the health of the economy of a country. More Trade Shows in a country mean more growth in infrastructure, business and
economy.
But the disruption crated due to Covid-19 and the Government(s) not keen to open the TradeShows on priority is creating a crushing blow for the the sector, with the double whammy of restrictions on mass gatherings. While ITPO and IEIA both have worked out SOP’s for the sector, with international SOP’s in place by World health Organisation, the implementation of these SOP’s will only be seen when the government at both the state and Centre are more to understand the desire of opening up the sector. India should have taken lead from Germany to be first country not to recognize TradeShows as mass gathering, and to activate the true potential of India as the foremost important economy in the world. Covid-19 has completely shut the exhibitions business. We need to see if it will be in a much changed or diminished form when return to normal course? Just as people have discovered that they can conduct their meetings from their living rooms,
will buyers and sellers conclude that they too can do their business remotely ? The answer lies only after we open up. TFT June issue has more in-depth coverage than in past issues of this year. The cover story itself will give you more reasons to read the edition in full. We await your feedback. Keep reading TFT.
