GED 2023: Informa Markets in India Sets Industry Benchmark with Remarkable Growth and Promising Prospects

Celebrates the global theme of ‘We run the meeting places and marketplaces for everyone’ by launching 8 new shows this year

As the exhibitions industry worldwide celebrates the 8th annual Global
Exhibitions Day (GED) today, Informa Markets in India, leads the way in garnering momentum and positivity to further bolster the exhibitions industry’s growth engine. This year, the theme is centered around ‘We run the meeting places and marketplaces for everyone’.
Every year, in India, over 700 B2B events are held with revenues of around Rs. 65,000 crs with a growth of 12 %. Exhibitions actively contribute to showcasing the India story by highlighting its innovations, capabilities, and diverse industries, and serve as a platform to attract foreign investments and business collaborations. Furthermore, by creating a multitude of employment, ranging from skilled professionals to unskilled workers, the industry’s contribution to job creation, supporting the economy and providing livelihoods is immense.

Echoing the sentiments of the GED theme, Informa Markets in India began the year on an extremely positive note, introducing eight new shows in various sunrise sectors, including nutraceuticals and battery technologies. All shows have seen significant exhibitor and visitor growth while digital capabilities have been enhanced to offer further value to customers. According to the latest industry statistics, exhibitions have hosted more than 353 million visitors globally and have an incredible impact on the global economy, with over $334 billion in business sales for attendees. Trade shows have developed into more than booths displaying products—they have become marketplaces amplified by educational opportunities, innovation launches, and data-driven qualified lead retrieval opportunities, supported by social networking activities that unite valuable digital progress with the now-yearned-for magic of interpersonal connection. A total of 3.4 million jobs are directly and indirectly supported by exhibitions.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, Informa Markets in India, said, “Global Exhibitions Day holds immense significance in our industry as it highlights the pivotal role that exhibitions play in driving economic growth, fostering connections, and igniting innovation. At Informa Markets in India, we take pride in our commitment to organise exceptional trade exhibitions that bring together industry professionals, businesses, and thought leaders from across the globe. With an outstanding visitor growth between 20 to 35 % post Covid, our array of new and established shows serves as platforms for showcasing the visionary India story with breakthrough technologies, sharing knowledge, and forging strategic partnerships.” “In the upcoming phase, the business outlook for exhibitions will be optimistic, including the increased demand for face-to-face meetings, the development of new technologies and products, venue renovations and the introduction of new exhibition spaces and the cost effectiveness of exhibitions in lead generation. With proper planning and risk mitigation strategies, businesses can position themselves for success. Global Exhibitions Day is a time for reaffirming our commitment to create transformative experiences through exhibitions and shape a future where face-to-face interactions continue to thrive and play a vital role,” he added.

Set up in 2016, GED is celebrated annually on the first Wednesday of June to drive visibility of the exhibition industry locally, regionally and on a global scale by industry players in over 100 countries. It aims at highlighting the role of the exhibition industry in anchoring global economies.
