Hyderabad to host G20 Agriculture Ministerial meeting from June 15 to 17

Agriculture Working Group (AWG) will be in Hyderabad for its Ministerial Meeting. The three-day event, starting from 15-17 June 2023, will be attended by more than 200 delegates from G20 member countries, invited countries and International Organizations. The event will be graced by the Agriculture Ministers from various countries and the Director Generals from International Organizations.

 

Day 1 (15th June 2023):

  • The event will kick off with the inauguration of a grand exhibition showcasing India’s achievements in agriculture and allied sectors. The Hon’ble Minister of State, MoA&FW (Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare), Shri Kailash Choudhary, will perform the inauguration.
  • Following the exhibition inauguration, there will be an Agriculture Deputies Meeting (ADM), which involves discussions among high-level officials.
  • In the second half of the day, two side events will take place:
    1. “Managing Agribusiness for Profit, People and Planet”: This event will feature participation from top Indian agriculture-based companies, start-ups, and central and state government agencies involved in promoting agribusiness companies.
    2. “Connecting the Digitally Disconnected: Harnessing the Power of Digital Technologies in Agriculture”: This side event will focus on the use of digital technologies in agriculture and involve relevant stakeholders.

Day 2 (16th June 2023):

  • The second day will begin with a welcome address by the Hon’ble Union Agriculture Minister, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, who will greet the participating Ministers and other Heads of Delegation from the G20 meeting.
  • The Ministerial engagements for the day will include discussions on the following topics:
    1. “Sustainable Agriculture for Food Security and Nutrition”: This session will cover discussions on promoting sustainable agricultural practices to ensure food security and nutrition.
    2. High-level Ministerial Discussion: This discussion will be held in three parallel sessions focusing on women-led agriculture, sustainable biodiversity, and climate solutions.

Day 3 (17th June 2023):

  • The third and final day of the Ministerial Meeting will conclude with the adoption of the outcomes of the Agriculture Working Group, G20, Indian Presidency. This signifies the agreement and acceptance of the decisions and resolutions made during the meeting.
  • After the conclusion of the meeting, the delegation will proceed for a technical excursion to ICAR-Indian Institute of Millets Research (IIMR) located in Hyderabad. This excursion provides an opportunity for the delegates to visit and learn from the research and work carried out at the institute.
