India International Dairy Expo (IIDE) 2019: A trade dais for all stakeholders of Dairy Industry under one roof

With over 200 exhibitors from India & International showcasing their new technological advances / products / services being offered to the dairy industry, spread over an area of 8000 sq. mt. and over 6,500 dairy professionals expected to witness these exhibits, the next edition of India International Dairy Expo (IIDE) 2019 will bring the entire gamut of the dairy industry at one place.

Indian dairy industry accounts more than 13% of worlds total milk production and is World’s leading producer and consumer of dairy products for quite a long time with a sustained growth in the availability of milk and milk products.
Indian dairy Industry is worth INR 5.4 trillion by value, having grown at 15% CAGR for the last consecutive 5 years and is expected to reach INR 9.4 Trillion by 2020 on rising consumerism. Dairy industry is one of the important source of employment and income for the rural Indian economy.

The dairy industry is witnessing continuous investments across various segments. The organized players consisting of cooperatives and private firms together procure around 20% of milk. Homegrown players such as Amul, Mother Dairy, Nandini, Prabhat Dairy, Parag Milk foods and Kwality, primarily dominate this market. The key to success in the Indian dairy industry has been largely based on the capacity of the player to grab a share of a consumers’ monthly basket. Hence, each player has been focusing on providing a gamut of products across price ranges.

Many global players are making a beeline for India, through the inorganic route, committing big investments in value-added dairy products. Attracted by the size and potential of the Indian market the last couple of years have seen entry of global dairy majors like Lactalis and Fonterra into the Indian market.
The growing Indian consumption story and the steady rise of per-capita demand for dairy products is definitely a huge incentive for them to be in India. Dairy growth in India is happening at a time when demand has considerably slackened in the matured markets of Europe and the US. The focus is on value-added products such as cheese, yoghurt, probiotic drinks, etc.

Innovative products are also being routinely introduced, taking into account the specific requirements of Indian consumers as well as the export market. These players are improving their milk procurement network, which is further facilitating the development of the dairy industry in India.
