Pune’s Wedding Event Industry Suffers Yet Another Setback: 2 Dead and 25 Test Positive for COVID After Attending Wedding With 250 People in Hyatt Regency, Pune

An FIR has been registered against Hyatt Regency Hotel’s Event Manager and also a Wedding Organiser after about 250 guests attended a marriage ceremony there on June 30. Now it has been revealed that 2 guests have died due to COVID19 and 25 others are infected.

After a complaint from Anand Goyal, a social worker, Yerwada police station has booked wedding organiser Kapil Rajesh Garg of Kondhwa and Hyatt’s event manager Vishal Tiwari of Vadgaonsheri. They have been charged for offence under section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by a public servant) of the Indian Penal Code.

According to Government Lockdown rule, a maximum of 50 guests can attend a marriage, the complaint also said that the hotel could not show CCTV footage due to technical problems. The wedding organiser had submitted a list of 50 people but according to the police more people had attended the wedding.
