Treat awaits Delhi’s book lovers

This year, theme of the fair is ‘150 years of Mahatma Gandhi’, which has also been depicted with a pictorial exhibition titled ‘Timeline’

One of the major attractions for the bibliophiles, the 25th edition of the Delhi Book Fair alongwith other concurrent events, namely, 21st Stationery Fair, 5th Office Automation Fair and Corporate Gifts Fair commenced at Pragati Maidan , New Delhi, on September 11. These five day events were formally inaugurated by Rajesh Agrawal, IAS, Executive Director, India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) in Hall 7, Pragati Maidan.

The Delhi Book Fair has been organised by ITPO in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Publishers (FIP). Present on the occasion were R K Mittal, President, FIP, Ashutosh Varma, General Manager, ITPO and Dr Ashok Gupta, Secretary General, FIP, participants and media persons. This year, theme of the fair is ‘150 years of Mahatma Gandhi’ which has also been depicted with a pictorial exhibition titled Timeline outside Hall 7.

There is a thematic display of books pertaining to the Gandhian thoughts and life. Delhi Book Fair also aims to project aspiration of ‘New India’ as envisioned by the Prime Minister. Highlighting ‘Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan’, this year, Delhi Book Fair aims to project education and skill development as key drivers for all other sectors. Over 130 exhibitors are taking part in these events. Apart from students, book fair is also an ideal event for intellectuals, scholars, authors, librarians, teachers, and all those who have deep interest in Indian culture and literature.

This edition of the fair will once again be about printed and digital content. While promoting an overall culture of reading, the fair aims to provide a conducive environment for promotion of book trade. Extensive efforts have been made to invite faculty and students from different schools as well as colleges. Visitor entry to the event is free and allowed from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm from Gate No.1 and 10.
