Virtual Exhibition of Handloom Weavers Ends After Successful Run

Virtual Exhibition of Handloom Weavers of Surendranagar District celebrating the handloom week which was implemented by Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), supported by HSBC and organized byPinks Event from 1st – 3rd August 2020 concludes successfully and was a huge value addition to participating weavers.

COVID-19 has halted the traditional markets and weavers across the handloom clusters are under severe financial crisis. To boost their confidence and weave the treads of hope during these turbulent times, a virtual exhibition was organized from the 1st to 3rd August, 2020 which was implemented by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), supported by HSBC and organized by Pinks Event. This virtual exhibition was organized to promote the handloom cluster of Surendranagar in India and ensure the overall growth and social development of the weavers, artisans and other beneficiaries associated with the same.

Around 20 weavers from the Surendranagar district cluster had participated in this virtual exhibition who had showcased their beautiful hand crafted products such as tangalia and patola sarees, ties, clutches and purses, handbags, etc which also helped them generate an opportunity for sales and networking. A dedicated platform was set up to exhibit the created product catalogues, product profiles with their videos for 20 weavers who had participated in the first phase of virtual exhibition.

This unique virtual exhibition, where there were around 20 stalls which were exhibited for the entire 3 days saw participation of more than 760+ visitor registrations not only from India but from global markets with visitors flocking from countries such as USA, Belgium, UK, Canada, Singapore, Dubai, Switzerland to name a few, generating business enquiries for buying of tangalia and patola products to an average sales value of around 1.5 to 2.0 lakhs per exhibitor during the entire three days of the exhibition.

One of the wonderful aspects of this whole virtual exhibition was that due to the demand by visitors, the organizers decided to extend the virtual exhibition by an additional day which ideally was planned on the 1st and 2nd August 2020 only.

This entire 3 days e-exhibit was a great collaborative effort of several associations and partners and was Implemented by – EDII Ahmedabad, duly supported by – HSBC, the exhibition was successfully executed and managed by PinksEvent along with support from partners such as the Promotional photoshoot by TheVandana Photography.
